Baby Chic

Gone is the age of the blue and pink baby nurseries.  A friend of mine just gave birth to her new little girl and during her pregnancy I started noticing more and more baby nurseries are “tres chic”.  I’m loving the sophisticated look of these nurseries.

The idea of having such a classic and less “foo-fooey” room means not having to change it as the child grows and becomes more timeless through the child’s life.  Also don’t forget if you’re ever looking to re-sell your home it gives a nicer impression than giraffes and elephants on the wall.

Grey & White Nursery

Or how about the neutral gray & white?  Don’t know if you’re having a boy or girl?  Well Design with white and grey and once the baby is born you can accessorize with pillows, lamp shades, throw blankets, wall art, you name it for the direction you choose once the baby is born.

Shown above:  Better Homes creates this chalk board coat rack by  using a recycled frame.   A great way to display different objects or ideas is an old window frame.  Below: from decorandyouhr.com shows a fantastic way to create a coffee table.  You have the ability to build this by using an old recycled window frame which can be easily found at a flea market or antique store.  Next build your base and decorate the interior any way you please. One can change the items from season to season or display personal items, the options are endless.

Or if you’re just looking to be nostalgic you can try and put some personal or historic pictures in the frame for display.  Show here below from Bride.ca.com one couple takes this idea to display family wedding pictures at their own wedding.  The wear and tear I think adds to the character of the frame making it one of a kind~

The way we think about our outdoor spaces and indoor spaces seems different, but in reality the same concepts can be applied. Why don’t you have some trimmed hedges in your living room?

Although the grass pillow is a literal translation of bringing the indoors out it helps exemplify the way we can think about our spaces in a new way.  The below pony planters are a modern way of displaying simple vegetation in a non-typical way.

Clocks are no longer your grandfathers, but rather anything that inspires you.  Clocks are a great reason for some new wall art.  The above clock display not only lets you show off one piece of of work, but twelve instead.

Disguising the average clock into a piece of contemporary art is another way to show the time, but without the clutter of numbers.
